AMS was established in 1976 by the Aerospace engineers Mark Crabtree and Stuart Nevison. 1981, they launched the RMX-16 digital reverberator which outlined the sound of the Nineteen Eighties and been heard in pop and rock music ever since. By the mid Nineteen Eighties, almost each main studio had an RMX 16. It virtually outlined the drum sound of the period with the large drums of Phil Collins “Within the Air Tonight”.
